Charlie Rooks
Owner/Funeral Director
For more than two decades, Charlie Rooks has been providing high quality and compassionate memorial services to the Black Hills and Pine Ridge communities. He has also been involved with the development and acquisitions of various funeral homes since 1987.
Charlie received a bachelors of arts in criminal justice from Chadron State College in 1980 and a bachelor of science degree in mortuary science from the University of Minnesota in 1987. He married New Jersey native Rose Szathmary in August 1979 and they have six children: Ryan, Eugene, Sean, Natalie, John-Paul and Gracie.
Rose (Szathmary) Rooks
Owner
Rose received her bachelor of science in physical education from the University of Kansas in 1977. She has spent the last 30 years being a dedicated homemaker and partner in the development and acquisitions of the various funeral home service projects in which the Rooks' have been involved.
Dwight and JoAnn Edstrom
Manager / Co-owner
Serving Rapid City and Black Hills families for more than 30 years, Dwight Edstrom has an extensive background in the compassion and dedication that is needed for the funeral home business. Having previously worked for Osheim and Schmidt, Dwight is now a co-owner and the manager of Edstrom and Rooks Funeral Services at Serenity Springs.
Dwight's wife, JoAnn, retired as the Raw Materials Manager with Black Hills Gold after 27 years of employment. Well known for their generosity and talent to assist others, Dwight and JoAnn have been involved in a variety of civic organizations throughout the years. Together they have six children, fifteen grandchildren and two great grandsons.
