Burial Vaults

Burial vaults are protective outer containers that caskets are placed in at the grave and sealed closed. They protect the casket, keep the grave intact as well as add beauty to the funeral service.

In most areas of the country, state or local law does not require that you buy a burial vault or container. It is often a matter of preference. However, many cemeteries require that you have such a container so that the weight of the ground will not crush the casket below and cause the grave to sink in. In most cases, either a grave liner or burial vault will satisfy these requirements.
