Kenneth J. Fish
Kenneth J. Fish, 73, Rapid City, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at his home. Ken was born on May 2, 1939 in White, SD to John and Myrtle (Ruehl) Fish. He married Dorothy Patrick on August 16, 1960 at the First United Methodist Church in Brookings. Ken began his banking and finance career in 1961 in Sioux Falls and Yankton, always wanting to improve himself, he became Vice President and Manager of Security State Bank in Harlem, MT, Vice President and Director of State Bank of Bottineau, Bottineau, ND, and in 1973 until 1981 he was the President and Director of Drayton State Bank, Drayton, ND. Continuing to provide for his family, in 1981, Ken became Vice President and Manager of United National Bank in Rapid City and during the name change to Rushmore State Bank, became the President and Director. In 1985 he became the owner and president of Woods and Water Sports in Rapid City. In 1995, Ken and Dorothy established Discover Mortgage which they operated until Dorothy’s death in 2008. Ken served three years on the North Dakota Bankers Association Executive Council and president of the Northeast Group, Served as President of the Drayton, ND Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Corporation and Hospital Board and president of the Arrowhead Country Club in 1986. Survivors include his three sons; Douglas Fish and Susan, and Thomas Fish, Rapid City and Kelly and Anna Fish, Destin, FL, four grandchildren; Chris, Sammi, Adrea and Davi and six great grandchildren; Kiara, Bianca, Payton, Dominic, Landon and Davina, two sisters; Neta and Bud Anderson, Mansfield, SD and Karen and Arnold George, Littleton, CO. A visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Monday, July 30, 2012 at Edstrom & Rooks Funeral Service, Serenity Springs Tranquility Chapel in Rapid City. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 31 at the First United Methodist Church in Rapid City with Pastor Doug Diehl officiating. Interment at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors by the South Dakota National Guard and Rushmore VFW Post 1273 will be held at 1:00 pm. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
