When you trust your loved one to the care of our staff, we guarantee that you will receive the highest quality of professional services. Serenity Springs Funeral Chapel offers traditional funeral services that range from the very simple to the elaborate, meeting the needs of each individual family.
Basic Services of Funeral Directors and Staff
Our basic service charge includes, but is not limited to;
- staff to response to initial request for service,
- arrangement conference with family or responsible party;
- preparation and filing of necessary certificates and permits;
- placement of obituary notices; planning of funeral arrangements; and
- coordination of service with cemetery, crematory, vault companies and others as required.
Also, included in this charge are overhead expenses relative to our facility such as insurance, maintenance and utility expenses, secretarial and administrative costs, and equipment and inventory expenses. This fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements you select. (This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremations, immediate burials and forwarding or receiving of remains.)

Care and Preparation of Deceased
Embalming
Except in certain special cases, the law does not require embalming. Embalming may be necessary however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial. South Dakota Law 20:45:02:07; Source 9 SDR effective 11/14/82 states that an un-embalmed body may be kept no longer than 24 hours from the time of death. After 24 hours, the body shall be refrigerated, embalmed, cremated, or buried in the ground.
